With Memorial Day and Fourth of July just around the corner, we look forward to celebrating with family and friends. This is the time of year when outdoor entertaining takes precedence and the size of our homes seem to expand. Fabric selection plays an essential role in adding color and dimension to your outdoor living area. Here are a few tips to take your outdoor decorating to the next level.

Choose fabrics that pop: Use contrasting colors with your cushions by combining two colors or patterns, one for the back of your cushion and one for the seat of your cushion. Add a pop of color with contrasting piping. It will definitely be noticed.

Vary pillow shapes and sizes: Pillows are not only for the indoors. Bring them outdoors, in all shapes, patterns and colors.

Decorate your table: Set your table in style by adding a snazzy table runner with coordinating placemats. For tableware, leave the paper plates on the shelf and invest in melamine plates, bowls and serving dishes. With many colorful options, this will speak to your sense of style, while being environmentally aware and offering your guests a sturdy option on which to enjoy their meal.

Add a rug: A large outdoor rug is quite inviting and is a must. When styling your outdoor entertainment area, a rug will give the vibe of being cozy and comfortable. You’ll find there are many colors, textures and styles to choose from when putting your design together.

Give nature a nod: Add color and beauty to your space with colorful flowers and shades of green foliage. Showcase them in simple terracotta pots and vintage glass jars. Using décor that speaks to your sense of style will allow your personality to shine through.

Healthy and Colorful: Incorporating fresh fruits and vegetables will add color to your small-plate gathering or your festive feast. A cool salad with fresh options from your local farmer's market will be a healthy hit. Adding frozen, colorful berries to your guest's drink will keep the beverage cool and not watered down.

Cheers to you, your family and friends as you enjoy warmer days celebrating summer and creating special memories in your renewed outdoor areas.
