Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Night At Chesapeake Set For Jan. 17

Written by Colin Murphy | January 07, 2017

The Chesapeake girls basketball team’s Multiple Sclerosis Awareness game against Glen Burnie on January 17 will feature several fundraising aspects, and all proceeds from the event will benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

The night will begin with the boys game at 5 p.m., and the girls game will follow at 6:45 p.m.

The event is the brainchild of Chesapeake senior Kara Blanchard, who was recently diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

Events at the game will include auctioning items from the Ravens’ Brandon Williams, the Dallas Mavericks and the Baltimore Shuckers as well as a “Score-a-Thon” in which businesses or families can pledge a dollar for every point Chesapeake scores.

Attendees are encouraged to wear orange in support of multiple sclerosis awareness.

In addition, the Chesapeake girls basketball program is inviting the county’s girls basketball programs and people in the community to join them for the April 29 Walk MS walk at Camden Yards. Participants can solicit pledges to benefit the National MS Society.
