Community Raises $5,000 For Pasadena Mom During Cancer Sucks Car Meet

Pasadena resident and Anne Arundel County Public Schools bus driver Amanda Smith was diagnosed with Stage II cervical cancer in April 2015, and to help her with medical expenses, the Contagallo family and numerous businesses rallied together to throw the Cancer Sucks Car Meet on July 31. The event raised $5,000 and drew 300 custom cars for display. Pep Boys in Glen Burnie provided the venue, Maisel Brothers donated a $1,000 Hanover fire pit and DJ Special K offered the tunes. Other top contributors included CarShowz.com, Absolute Pro-formance and Maryland Area Mopar. Smith hopes to make a full recovery.
