August 24, 2018

As summer comes to a close, it’s time to soak up as much sun as possible and enjoy the end of the warm weather. To help you get out this weekend, we are highlighting some activities happening around town:

1.  Night Golf - Friday, August 24

Play a full 18 holes — but nine in the day and nine and night. At Compass Pointe Golf Courses, Night Golf gives people a chance to see the course under the stars and provides a dinner break between rounds. There are two “Premium Night Golf Balls” included in the admission fee. Compass Pointe Golf Courses, 9010 Fort Smallwood Road, Pasadena. 5:30pm-11:30pm. $55-$75. More info.

2.  “9 to 5” MusicalFriday, August 24; Saturday, August 25, and Sunday, August 26

It’s almost closing time! The Annapolis Summer Garden Theatre’s production of “9 to 5” has three performances this weekend from Friday-Sunday, all at 8:30pm. The musical is based on the 1980 hit movie about three female coworkers who concoct a plan to get back at their sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot of a boss. A girl can scheme, can’t she? “9 to 5” closes Sept. 2. Annapolis Summer Garden Theatre, 143 Compromise Street, Annapolis. 8:30pm. $25. More info.

3.    Rubber Duck Race & Pool Bash - Saturday, August 25

Be part of Cedarwood Cove’s first-ever rubber duck race and pool bash! The event is open to members and nonmembers of the pool. There will be carnival games, vendors, food and baked goods in addition to swimming. Admission cost is the adoption of one duck per person over the age of 3, which will be entered into the rubber ducky race. This event serves as a fundraiser for the Cedarwood Cove Pool Association. Cedarwood Cove Pool Association, 1564 Marco Drive, Pasadena. 12:00pm-3:00pm. Free-$5. More info.

4.  RennFest Opening Weekend - Saturday, August 25, and Sunday, August 26

Hear ye, hear ye! The renowned Maryland Renaissance Festival opens this weekend. Opening weekend is also Children’s Weekend, meaning those ages 15 and under do not need tickets to get into the festival. Special guests this weekend include Robin Hood and Maid Marian. Maryland Renaissance Festival, 1821 Crownsville Road, Annapolis. 10:00am-7:00pm. Free-$19. More info.

5.  Peter Pan Auditions - Saturday, August 25, and Sunday, August 26

Follow the second star to the right and straight on till morning! You might not end up in Neverland, but it’ll be a close second: Children’s Theatre of Annapolis is holding auditions this weekend for its upcoming production of “Peter Pan.” To audition, you must be between the ages of 12-18. For the audition, prepare 16-32 bars of a vocal audition selection that is from a musical in the style of the show, and be ready to dance and do cold readings from the script. Children’s Theatre of Annapolis, 1661 Bay Head Road, Annapolis. 12:00pm-3:00pm. More info
