Religious education, creative activities and outdoor recreation will come together at local vacation Bible schools this summer. Kids in Pasadena can get involved with the themed programs at area churches, which will feature arts and crafts, plays, puppet shows, Bible stories, religious songs and various other activities.

Severna Park Evangelical Presbyterian Church will host their “Adventure Week” July 9-13 this year. Their theme, “Babylon: David’s Courage in Captivity,” will teach kids about the life and times of Biblical days. There will be drama presentations, a petting zoo, craft activities, snack time with modern and Biblical foods, and daily lessons taught in character by Biblical figures.

Children will sing at a special parent night presentation, and the week will close with a family picnic. They will learn about and play a part in mission work through bringing items for the church food pantry, and raising money for important projects overseas, like safe-housing for street children and translating the Bible into new languages. The VBS program is $10 per child and available to kids in kindergarten through sixth grade. Severna Park Evangelical Presbyterian Church is located at 114 Ritchie Highway.

Pasadena United Methodist Church’s vacation Bible school will take place August 6-10 from 9:00am until noon. The theme, “Operation Overboard,” will dare children ages 4-11 to go deep with God at the church, located at 61 Ritchie Highway. The weeklong program is $10 per child in addition to a donation to the Care Corner Food Pantry.

Jenkins Memorial Church, located at 133 Riviera Drive, teaches kids everything is possible with God. Their “Big Sky” themed vacation Bible school will run July 16-20 from 6:00-8:30pm. All children in kindergarten through sixth grade are invited to attend.

The Chesapeake Christian Center also invites kids to take part in the “Big Sky” theme this summer. Kids in pre-kindergarten through fifth grades may come to 4613 Mountain Road July 23-29 for CCC’s vacation Bible school. The program runs Monday - Friday at 6:00pm.

Lake Shore Baptist Church will propel God’s message to kids and youth with their “Amazing Wonders of Aviation” VBS theme. From 6:00-8:30pm on July 9-13, kids can look forward to crafts, recreation, music and snacks. There are two programs at Lake Shore - one for kindergarten through fifth graders, and another for area youth in sixth through twelfth grades. Lakeshore Baptist is located at 4613 Mountain Road.
