Chesapeake Seniors Receive Athletic Scholarships
This February, Chesapeake High School had three athletes sign letters of intent to go to Division I schools to play sports. Featured above from left to right are Holly Lucke, who will attend the University of Cincinnati and play for the womens lacrosse team; Jason Crane, who will attend Loyola University to play mens lacrosse; and Jaclyn Ward, who will play for the womens soccer team at the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
Zach Seifert will attend Division II University of Charleston in West Virginia to play for the Golden Eagles football team. Seifert, a senior with a 3.67 GPA, led the Cougars in tackles in 2011 with 96, and he also had three sacks. A two-way starter at tight end and defensive end, he was named to the Coaches All-County Second Team, the Capital Gazette All-County Second Team, and was the starting defensive end in last falls Baltimore Touchdown Club All-Star Game. He was awarded the Ultimate Cougar trophy for his leadership in the community and excellence on the field and in the classroom. What has always set Zach apart from most players is his outstanding work ethic, said Chesapeake Head Coach Rob Elliot. He has always been willing to put in the hard work to make himself a better player.
