The Northeast softball team jumped on Chesapeake early and didn’t let up on Wednesday, ousting their rivals from the playoffs with a 5-1 victory in the 3A East Section II final at Chesapeake.

Eagle starting pitcher Christina Jordan pitched a complete game, allowing only three hits and striking out seven in pushing Northeast to victory.

The Eagles scored two runs in the first, one in the third and two more in the fourth to take a 5-0 lead en route to winning. Alexis Brengle (two singles, one RBI), Chelsea Manansala (one single), Sarah Gordon (two singles, two runs, two steals), Maria Weddle (two singles, three runs, one RBI), Jenna Matulonis (two singles, one RBI) and Jordan (RBI sac fly) all had big days at the plate for Northeast.

The Eagles will travel to Glenelg on Friday at 4 p.m. for the 3A East final.
