When we pitched our Question of the Month for this edition to the fifth-graders at Jacobsville Elementary, asking them what they would do if they could control the weather, I found myself surprised not by what kind of weather they loved but instead why they loved it.

Although there were some variations, many of the students called for it to be warm and sunny. Where their answers differed was in regard to their springtime activity of choice – playing sports, going for a swim, eating ice cream and so forth.

It shouldn’t surprise me that warm weather is on all their minds now that we are enjoying the start of real spring temperatures. And therefore it’s pretty appropriate that members of the community are starting to get out and enjoy all of what’s happening around town.

Just flip through the pages of this month’s edition and you’ll see coverage of youth baseball teams’ Opening Day ceremonies, Easter egg hunts and bunny visits, food truck gatherings, school projects and much more. This is definitely a great season for local feel-good news.

Our April edition is exciting because it’s also when we announce the winners of the annual Best of Pasadena contest. It’s a big undertaking to count all the votes, but count them we did – and we hope you’ll join us in extending a big congratulations to all these local businesses. A few places held their title from previous years, and there were even some new places that have clearly gained a loyal following in only their first year in business. In the coming weeks, our team will deliver Best of Pasadena certificates and window decals to these businesses. Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram so you can see the owners and their employees accept the honors.

The April edition also includes our Real Estate Guide with everything you need to know about the process of buying or selling a home right here in Pasadena. Next month’s special edition will be our On The Water Guide, full of all the tips you need to make the most of enjoying Anne Arundel County’s maritime culture this summer. If you own a business that would be interested in advertising in it, be sure to call our office at 410-255-5888.

Until next time, Pasadena, keep enjoying this spring weather and the activities that bring the community together. If you have news ideas or feedback on any of the stories in this edition, shoot me an email at dylan@pasadenavoice.com. I always love hearing from our readers.
