Opening Day Marks The Start Of Baseball Season In Pasadena

Posted

Pasadena’s baseball and softball players celebrated a rite of spring this April with Opening Day parades and the beginning of games. Havenwood Softball and Pasadena Baseball Club enjoyed a joint Opening Day parade on April 6, while Lake Shore Baseball braved the rain to have its parade on April 13.

Another spring of baseball and softball means a full slate of games as well as special events for the organizations. Havenwood’s Spring Hit-A-Thon on April 29 has already raised more than $8,000 for the organization, and community members can pledge their support for their players on the Havenwood Softball website. Havenwood Softball will also take players to Camden Yards for Orioles Day on Sunday, May 5.

Pasadena Baseball Club has 375 players between the ages of 4 and 18 competing on 35 teams this season. PBC’s main fundraiser this spring is the Color Splash Fun Run on May 18; see details to register by May 1 on the Pasadena Baseball Club Facebook page. PBC teams will also attend Orioles Day with Havenwood.

Lake Shore Softball had its Opening Day parade cancelled because of the weather on April 13, but the organization is looking forward to Orioles Day on May 5.

Lake Shore Softball is excited for its 60th year of baseball in Pasadena in 2019, and Lake Shore’s little leaguers celebrated in style at the Woods Road Athletic Complex on April 13 through a light drizzle. Lake Shore has 850 registered players between intramural and travel teams who paraded through the park on Opening Day, waving to family and friends before a ceremonial first pitch and play in a bouncy castle and on a climbing wall. Lake Shore’s exciting developments this season include the forthcoming installation of a concrete courtyard and a batting cages facility. Lake Shore will participate in Little League Day at Oriole Park and will host two travel tournaments, the Dirt & Diamonds Mother’s Day Tournament, the Best in the House in-house tournament and the Boys of Summer Tournament.
