The 12U Pasadena Eagles represented Pasadena proudly at the Cooperstown Dreams Park Tournament in Cooperstown, New York, this summer, going 7-1 overall and making it to the sweet 16 of the 104-team tournament.

The Eagles, comprised of Donny Borum, Everett Cooper, Camden Handwerger, Josh Horgan, Skylar Kaplan, Trent Rathell, Colby Sanders, Mark Sasse, Peyton Stiles, Jonathan Vasquez, Erick Reiniger and Jeremy Poe, went 6-0 in preliminary play, beating teams from Hawaii, Ohio, Virginia, Indiana, California and New York to earn a 12-seed for the knockout rounds. The team made it all the way to the last 16 on the tournament’s final day.

In addition to the sterling run in Cooperstown, the Eagles experienced tremendous success at several tournaments this summer. The Eagles were champions of both the Severn Spring Break Tournament and the Severn School’s Out Tournament and were semifinalists in the Maryland State Invitational.

Head coach Tim Rathell and assistant coaches Scott Handwerger and Don Borum were extremely proud of the effort put forth by the kids over the summer and throughout the week in Cooperstown.

“To see all the kids play their hardest for each other to the very last out, then leave it all on the field and walk out with their heads held high—I’m so proud of what we did as a team,” said Rathell.
