Albrecht Properties, Texas Roadhouse Provide Food For 500 Families

As COVID-19 cases spiked in early April and unemployment rose along with them, Tom Albrecht sought a way to help.

“Pasadena has supported me for 25 years, so I wanted to give back how I could,” said the owner of Albrecht Properties & Home Improvements.

Albrecht donated $10,000 to help Texas Roadhouse deliver food to families in need.

“Texas Roadhouse gives back to schools and the community with car washes and other events, so it was a good fit,” Albrecht said.

With the funds, Texas Roadhouse packaged meals of pulled pork, green beans, salad and rolls.

“We were able to take the $10,000 and turn it into 500 meals, which each fed approximately a family of four,” said Meghan Hewitt, who does marketing for Texas Roadhouse.

To find local families and businesses in need, Hewitt enlisted help from Katy Agro Myers of Macaroni Kid Pasadena-Severna Park, Pasadena Business Association Executive Director Sandi Parrish, Tim Janiszewski from Our Lady of the Chesapeake Catholic Church, and Lisa and Rob Elliott, who coach Chesapeake High School cheerleading and football, respectively.

“With the help of the folks above, primarily Katy, we were able to quietly identify and orchestrate pickups as well as deliveries for all of the meals,” Hewitt said.
