Sunder: A New Work Reading
August 28 at 7:30pm
Maryland Hall (801 Chase Street, Annapolis)

Heartfelt chants ring out in a southern small town that’s had enough of the police criminalizing the poor. White protestors have occupied space downtown in the People’s Plaza, fighting for the freedom of homeless Black people who have been arrested for petty crimes and given astronomical bail. Turmoil threatens to come between two close friends at the helm of the movement, as the protestors decide if they should remain peaceful or amp up their efforts with force. In the midst is a Black police officer, who struggles to find his authenticity in a hotbed of justice, race and morality. What will become of a movement, once mighty, that loses its way because of a need for power?

Rossini’s Cinderella
November 5 at 7:30pm and November 7 at 3:00pm
Maryland Hall (801 Chase Street, Annapolis)

Do dreams really come true and can love conquer greed and cruelty? In this timeless comic opera, the kindhearted Angelina (Cinderella) is forced to work for her wicked stepfather and cruel stepsisters. To find the one maiden who is true of heart, Prince Ramiro trades places with his valet and goes door to door in disguise. Confusion and chaos ensue as Angelina’s family plots to win the heart of the prince. Through Rossini’s lively melodies, Prince Ramiro and Angelina find true love and prove that forgiveness, kindness and love can conquer all.

Puccini’s La bohème
January 27 at 7:30pm and January 29 at 3:00pm
Maryland Hall (801 Chase Street, Annapolis)

They say love is all you need, but what if love is all you have? Witness the spark of love that brings light to darkness in this enduring story of Puccini’s beloved opera. On a freezing night in Paris, four struggling artists share unexpected good fortune and rush to the cafe to celebrate, but Rodolfo lags behind. His life is changed forever when Mimi, a seamstress seeking candlelight, knocks on his door. Puccini’s glorious music captures both the overwhelming rush of love at first sight and the utter devastation of loss in the eyes of poverty and desperation.

Songs of Love
February 13 at 3:00pm
Asbury United Methodist Church (87 West Street, Annapolis)

Life is a song and love is the music. This performance, on the eve of Valentine’s Day, celebrates music of the heart.
