BWMC Foundation Hosts Successful Gala

Posted

The Baltimore Washington Medical Center Foundation’s signature event, The Power of Caring gala, was held in November at the Live! Casino and Hotel in Hanover with the honorary chair, the Creston G. Tate and Betty Jane Tate Foundation.

About 450 guests attended the event, which included a cocktail reception, seated dinner, silent and live auctions, and dancing to the live music of the band Millennium. Proceeds directly benefit University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center and enable UM BWMC to increase investments in technology, programs and services that improve patients' experiences.

“This year, we celebrated the power of caring to acknowledge the impact of UM BWMC’s exceptional medical care and the impact of the everyday acts of kindness, care and compassion from our community members — especially the Tate family,” said Kathy Burk, the BWMC Foundation executive director. “We were honored to recognize the Tates for all they’ve done to support both the UM BWMC and the entire community.”

Supporting this year’s event were more than 80 sponsors and underwriters including community businesses, medical leaders, physicians and individuals. Sponsors were recognized by a variety of superhero-themed monikers. The Creston G. and Betty Jane Tate Foundation was Earth’s Mightiest Caregiver sponsor. Guardians of Wellness sponsors included the UM BWMC medical staff and Live! Casino and Hotel. While, the Men and Women of Steel sponsors included Kaiser Permanente, UM Baltimore Washington Emergency Physicians, UM Baltimore Washington Primary Care, UMMS and UM BWMC.
Additionally, support came from major sponsors including J.B.A. Chevrolet, Ron and Karen Lowman, VNA of Maryland, Gable, FutureCare Health and Management Corporation, Chesapeake Oncology Hematology Associates, BB&T, Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital, Sandy Spring Bank, U.S. Anesthesia Partners of Maryland, Chesapeake Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Center, Leach Wallace Associates Inc., Maryland Primary Care Physicians, Woodholme Gastroenterology Associates, Gallagher Evelius & Jones, Hospice of the Chesapeake, M&T Bank, University of Maryland Radiation Oncology, UM Baltimore Washington Heart Associates, UM Baltimore Washington Oncology & Hematology, The Vascular Center at UM Baltimore Washington Medical Center, UM BWMC Executive Team, and BWMC Foundation’s Next Generation Group.

The BWMC Foundation is the fundraising arm of the UM Baltimore Washington Medical Center. It helps bridge the gap between the medical center’s basic operating costs and its ability to stay abreast of advancing technologies, programs and services, and plays an integral role in helping UM BWMC provide the highest-quality health care to the communities it serves. The BWMC Foundation accepts gifts of all sizes and offers numerous ways to donate. Visit www.bwmcfoundation.org for more information.
