CBMS Students, Teachers Show Out In Staff Vs. Kids Hoops

Chesapeake Bay Middle School recently had a staff versus eighth-grade student basketball game. Held at Chesapeake High School on March 20, the event was sponsored by the school’s Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) program, promoting positive behavior in schools. There was a great turnout as the stands were filled with students, staff and family members.

Student participants included Natalie Forman, Ella Shannon, Mikaela Warren, Luray Cirul, Jacob Warner, Jackson Fletcher, Andrew Beal, Joshua Boyd, Brayden Guy, Cam Arrington, Logan Sterling, Zion Logan, Rushaun Tongue and Logan Horner.

Staff participants included Officer Wekpe, Mr. Miller, Mrs. Hendershot, Dr. Lyons, Mr. Rondell, Ms. Grula, Ms. Mak, Mr. Palo, Mr. Smith, Mr. Davenport, Mr. Bauer, Mr. Dean, Mrs. Kerlavage, and Mrs. Dempsey. The staff team was coached by Mrs. Konig.

Jasmin Sanabria sang the national anthem to begin the game. The halftime show consisted of the CBMS Dance Company directed by Mrs. Dilner. Dancers included Delaney Simer, Payton Simer, Sophia Suda, Ashlynn Thomas, Alexus Williams, Grace Angyelof, Alexis Baker, Sierra Cage, Anika Coleman, Allora Ferree, Iyana Hurley, Kaci Ingle, Morgan Mattare, Callie Mikeska, Maria Ray, Thalia Roa, Delaney Pine and Jasmin Sanabria.

Mr. Wasnock was in charge of emceeing the event, and student Kierstyn Ambrose kept score. Mr. Miller and Ms. Grula put a lot of hard work in to make the event a great success.

In a close finish, the staff team took the win, 54-48.
