Posted

“Soli Deo Gloria: The Music of J.S. Bach,” an organ and trumpet concert featuring internationally recognized organist Grace Oh and Andrew Balio, principal trumpet of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, will be performed at 7:00pm on November 1 in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church of Annapolis, located at 171 Duke of Gloucester Street in Annapolis. The concert is open to the public. Admission is free, with a freewill offering at the entrance.

The one-hour performance will highlight some of Johann Sebastian Bach’s more notable works, including chorale preludes, transcriptions and organ solos. Pieces played will inlcude Oh’s solo of “Toccata and Fugue in D Minor,” which is generally considered Bach’s most famous organ work.

Both Oh and Balio have performed and been recognized internationally. Balio has been principal trumpet for several international orchestras. Among his solo recordings, “Soli Deo Gloria,” are his own transcriptions of the music of J.S. Bach for trumpet and organ. He recently completed another volume of his own transcriptions, that of Brahms, Schumann and Schubert. Oh has won first prize in competitions in Germany, Italy and the United States and been invited to prestigious festivals all over the world.
