Hancock’s Resolution Recruiting Volunteers

Posted

Anne Arundel County residents are invited to join the ranks of the dedicated volunteers who support Historic Hancock’s Resolution Farm and Friends of Hancock’s Resolution (FOHR). FOHR’s mission is to preserve, protect, and promote the unique aspects of Hancock’s Resolution for historical and educational purposes.

FOHR has an agreement with Anne Arundel County, the owner of the park, to operate the park and develop programming appropriate to its historical heritage. The park is located at 2795 Bayside Beach Road in Pasadena and features a 1785 stone farmhouse. There are also unrenovated buildings dating to the late 18th century, the original well, a family graveyard and acreage to demonstrate farming practices. With a visitor center expected to be completed this year, long-term goals will be to extend hours of operation, expand program offerings and design exhibits for the visitor center.

Numerous volunteer opportunities are available, including but not limited to receptionists, special event volunteers, handymen, tour docents, historical researchers, publicity and social media managers, grant administrators, and event coordinators.

A training session (and free breakfast) for new volunteer docents is planned and will provide volunteers with orientation to Hancock’s Resolution and the farm’s five interpretive themes. Scripts will be provided. A volunteer application is located at www.historichancocksresolution.org.
