Hospice Holds 11th Fashion For A Cause

Posted

Spend an evening surrounded by runway fashion and luxury cars while giving back to a good cause.

You don’t even have to travel to New York or Los Angeles — the event is right in Annapolis benefiting Hospice of the Chesapeake. Emceed by Andi Hauser, host of WUSA’s Great Day Washington, the 11th annual Fashion For A Cause will raise funds to support the organization’s Chesapeake Kids Program.

The Chesapeake Kids Program provides support for children living with an illness, dealing with the illness of a family member, or who are grieving the loss of a loved one.

“As a nonprofit organization committed to our community, we want to make sure we are able to provide services to any child and family regardless of their ability to pay,” said Elizabeth Liechty, co-chair of the Chesapeake Kids committee. “These services include our pediatric hospice, palliative care, as well as our children’s bereavement camps and weekly programs.”

Jason Cherry, a member of the Chesapeake Kids Committee, was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma in 2016.

“My diagnosis was an eye-opener for me as I faced the reality of mortality,” Cherry said. “The work Hospice of the Chesapeake does, for both the elderly and any age in between, is so unbelievably important for our community. My diagnosis has fueled my commitment for the organization and I pray that I end up in the hands of a group like Hospice of the Chesapeake when my day comes.”

The runway show features professional models and community celebrities wearing a sample of styles you’ll see this summer in the city, on the beach and at parties. After the show, the party will include signature cocktails and light refreshments.

The 11th annual Fashion For A Cause will be held at the Porsche of Annapolis on June 6. The event runs from 6:30pm-9:30pm. Tickets start at $90, and the price increases as the event date approaches.

“Fashion For A Cause is not only a fun way to raise funds but also a great way to bring awareness to all of the services we provide to children,” Liechty said. “It is a difficult conversation and topic as most people don’t associate hospice care with children. This event is a great way to make sure our community is aware of our ability to support them even during an unthinkable time.”
