How To Be Stylish On A Budget

Posted

Minutes after walking into my first consignment shop, I was immediately hooked. Never before did I realize that I could find high-end, quality merchandise at just a fraction of the cost. Not only was I able to purchase an outfit at a price I could afford, but I was also able to decorate our home with stylish furniture, paintings and other unique decor over the years.

Later that evening during a girls’ night out, I wore my newly acquired Michael Kors jeans, these adorable Steve Madden boots and a Kate Spade bag — all of which I had picked up in a consignment shop for about one-third of what I would have paid in a department store! I couldn't believe how many compliments I had gotten about my attire that night.

Here's some advice for those who are new to the consignment industry. First, look for the brand names you know and love. If you're familiar with a specific brand, the sizes are more likely to have a similar fit. But always remember to try it on first.

Secondly, know when to shop. In a consignment shop, many people clean out their closets on the weekends when they're home, so days early in the week offer a great time to find amazing treasures. And, if you see it, love it and buy it. Chances are there's only one, and if you pass, it may not be there when you return.

For those who are interested in consigning, do it. Do you have something in your closet that you're not absolutely in love with? Consignment shops provide a great way of earning extra money all while de-cluttering your life a little.

For more information, check out Believe Upscale Consignment in Lakeshore Plaza. The shop has everything from designer dresses and handbags to high-end furniture at affordable prices. Believe Upscale Consignment is also now accepting consignments.
