September is Hunger Action Month, a nationwide campaign to raise awareness and inspire action to alleviate food insecurity in communities across our country. Here in Anne Arundel County, with a population of 564,195, it is estimated that 224,153 people are food insecure. A lack of access to food means children go hungry, parents are forced to make difficult financial choices, and families are left stressed and anxious. Hungry children cannot focus at school and have little energy for the activities that feed their brains and bodies.
