Hunger Awareness Month

Posted

September is Hunger Action Month, a nationwide campaign to raise awareness and inspire action to alleviate food insecurity in communities across our country.  Here in Anne Arundel County, with a population of 564,195, it is estimated that 224,153 people are food insecure.  A lack of access to food means children go hungry, parents are forced to make difficult financial choices, and families are left stressed and anxious. Hungry children cannot focus at school and have little energy for the activities that feed their brains and bodies.

You can help!

Join Anne Arundel County Food Bank (AACFB), Homestead Gardens, the South County Chamber of Commerce and Friends of Annapolis Moms in a month-long food drive and fundraiser. Bring shelf-stable pantry products and baby items to Homestead Gardens Maryland locations for donation to Anne Arundel County food banks. You can also donate funds to the cause whenever you make a purchase at Homestead Gardens. Simply choose how much you want to donate at the register.
