Lake Shore 12U Girls Show Improvement In Big Win Over Glen Burnie

Posted

It has been a season of growth and progress for the 12U Lake Shore girls basketball team coached by Ramiro Moreno.

The team lost a game to Greater Glen Burnie by eight points earlier this season, but on January 12 the Lake Shore girls showed their improvement with a 22-13 win over the same Glen Burnie team.

The team of Julia Moreno, Emily Shadle, Sierra Carson, Kaila Anstead, Brooke Topper, Ashleigh Mech, Hannah Haberkorn, Shea Billmyer and Kelsie Payne is 3-3 through six games and has shown improvement in many areas.

“The girls have really progressed this year,” said coach Moreno. “We’re still a work in progress, but a large part of our success has been their defense. Their effort has been consistent and outstanding, which has led to a suffocating team defense. We press the majority of the game, so we don’t give our opponents much breathing room. Offensively we’ve got some room for improvement, but they are playing together and doing a great job creating open shots for each other by playing unselfishly and moving the ball well.”
