Misty Clean Celebrates 15 Sparkling Years In Pasadena

Misty Schulze originally did not consider Misty Clean to be her shot at the American dream, especially since she was a one-woman crew.

“In the beginning, it was just me, and that grew to include an office scheduler whom I deem ‘scheduler extraordinaire’ because she is amazing when it comes to the office aspect,” said Schulze. “My team of cleaners today are crazy amazing.”

Now with 14 employees, and celebrating her 15th year in business, Schulze said she takes pride in getting to know and really understand her clients’ needs.

“We have clients who have been around for all 15 years,” she added. “They have watched the progress; it’s incredible to have shared this with them.” Schulze said that her cleaners have made many great friends along the way and truly look forward to seeing their clients each week.

When she started Misty Clean Inc., Schulze said she really didn’t think too far into the future. “I got started when my son was just a baby,” said Schulze. “I wasn’t entirely ready to re-enter the workforce, but I did appreciate a few hours to myself here and there.”

Cleaning was therapeutic, so she pondered the opportunity to make a small income without taking too much time away from her newborn. “Referral after referral started happening, and I was faced with the decision,” she recalled. “Go big or go home! I went big.”

Schulze knows it would not have been possible without a client-centric focus. “I just wanted to take care of my clients. That was the absolute most important thing to me. It’s what I thought about at the end of the day,” said Schulze. “I’d ask myself, ‘Did I remember every detail? Was there anyone who needed this pick-me-up because they might have been having a bad day before they arrived home? Did I make their day better?’”

These were the questions Schulze used when creating a foundation of customer service and ultimately cultivating her company’s culture.

“Not to sound clichéd, but I honestly love every part of what I do,” said Schulze. “That’s why it’s been easy to keep it going for 15 awesome years.”

Now when she looks to the future, she envisions Misty Clean creating more jobs for both men and women.

“Currently, we are mostly residential,” said Schulze. “I would like to increase my commercial accounts and create a whole new division with the empty space in the building that we’re occupying now. I have big plans for us.”

As a successful small-business owner, Schulze’s advice for anyone considering starting their own business is simply stated: “Find your passion and stick with it. The rest will fall into place.”
