First semester report cards have gone out, and it’s time to look ahead to closing out the school year with Thanksgiving and then Winter Break. We’re almost at 2012 and there is a lot going on around Chesapeake High.

Footsteps To The Future

Nov. 17, from 6:00-8:00pm, you’ll find an opportunity for families of students at all grade levels to explore the variety of paths to academic success.

Miracle On 34th Street

Dec. 2 and 3, the CHS Theatre Group presents Miracle on 34th Street.

Health And Safety Expo

Save the date, the annual expo is Feb. 25, from 9:00am to 1:00pm at the middle school.

The club is always looking for new members!

AACPS Bullying Survey

Parents, there is still time to participate in the 2011 School Year Bullying Survey. It’s available online at www.survey.aacps.org until Dec. 16. Check the school’s website, or the Principal’s Newsletter for the passcode.

Got Homework?

Students needing help on their homework can connect to the Public Library’s HelpNow between 2:00pm and 11:00pm seven days a week. Tutors in math, science, English, and social studies are on hand to help students complete their homework. Visit www.aacpl.net then click on Homework center to access.

College Testing Dates

Fall testing dates are coming up. For the SAT, the next available testing date is Jan. 28, with a registration deadline of Dec. 30. Register by Feb. 10 for the March 10 testing date, and by April 6 for the May 5 testing date, and finally, register by May 8 for the June 2 testing date.

For the ACT, the next available testing date is Feb. 11 with a Jan. 13 registration deadline. For the April 14 testing date, you must register by March 9, and for the June 9 testing date, registration ends on May 4.

Chesapeake Bay Middle

The CBMS Book Swap will be held after school on Dec. 1. Students should bring in books before hand, and parents can pick up participating children at 4:00pm.

Ledo Pizza Fundraiser nights are Dec. 8, Jan. 12, Feb. 9, March 8, April 12 and May 10 from 5:00-9:00pm.

Bodkin Elementary

Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for Nov. 21 and 22; there is no school on those days. Bodkin Bookworms Reading Incentive Program students have until December 2 to turn in their logs to receive a coupon for a free kids meal.

Jacobsville Elementary

Upcoming events at Jacobsville include the Jump Rope For Heart Assembly at 2:00pm on Nov. 18, Parent-Teacher Conferences on the 21 and 22, and the Thanksgiving holiday Nov. 23 – 25.

Lake Shore Elementary

The Kindergartens are heading to Arlington Echo Camp Woodlands at9:30am on Nov. 29. The Lake Shore Chorus will perform for Manic Monday on WJZ Channel 13 on Nov. 28, at Lake Shore Plaza on December 10 and at the annual LSES Winter Concert Dec. 15. Lake Shore Dance Company will participate in a county-wide dance festival in Feb. 2012. The Winter Concert is to be held on Dec. 14 at 7:00pm.
