Posted

It may only be April, but the Northeast football program—and many other football teams around the state—are already deep in offseason conditioning programs, getting stronger and faster for the 2019 season.

Before kickoff in September, the Eagles want to find out who has the muscle.

The Northeast football program and its feeder team umbrella organization, Pasadena Football Club, will host its Second Annual High School Powerlifting Competition on July 20 at 9 a.m. at Northeast High School. Classes of 2020-2023 are welcome to participate in the following weight classes: 123 lbs, 132, 148, 165, 181, 198, 220, 242, 265 and 290. The competition categories will include bench press, squat and dead lift. Teams can enter for $350 (minimum of five lifters, maximum of 10), and individuals can enter for $50. High School team champions will receive a large trophy to display at their school; individual winners will receive first-place medals in each weight class in each lifting category.

Northeast is the reigning champion of 2018’s inaugural weightlifting competition.
