PBA Update

Posted

We just wrapped up another successful year of our Caring & Sharing Community Harvest Parade. This is the 22nd year we have held this event, and it continues to be the best way to kick off the holiday season in Pasadena. We had to adjust the parade route a bit this year, but everything still went off without a hitch. We want to thank all the groups that entered floats and walking units in the parade, as well as all the community members who came out to watch and donate to our food drive.

The next big event for the PBA is our fifth annual Veterans Day ceremony at the World War II memorial flag on Mountain Road near the Route 100 intersection. The ceremony will be held on Veterans Day, November 11, which is a Saturday this year. The ceremony will start at 1:00pm. Please park at the Lake Shore Athletic Complex, located off Woods Road, and follow the trail to the site. Golf carts will be provided for those who have trouble walking. Veterans and active military are encouraged to come in uniform.

The PBA will hold its annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Lakeshore Plaza on Tuesday, December 5, with festivities beginning at 6:00pm and the official lighting at 7:00pm. This event is free and open to the public. Come enjoy a special visit from Santa and his sleigh, Christmas carolers, hot chocolate and more. The PBA will accept cash and gift donations for A Child’s Christmas gift drive. Please consider donating.

Although it is only November right now, many of you will soon begin (or have already begun) your holiday shopping. Remember to keep local businesses in mind not only when you are buying gifts but also when you are getting your tree, purchasing decorations, catering dinner or fulfilling other needs. Shopping local supports the businesses that make our community a great place to live.

Looking ahead to 2018, let’s all mark our calendars for Saturday, March 3, which will be the date of the PBA’s scholarship fundraiser. We’re bringing back the ‘80s theme, along with the band Guys In Thin Ties. To find out how you can volunteer for or sponsor this event, reach out to Jerry Nicklow at jerry@huffinsurance.com.
