PBA Update

PBA’s 14th annual golf tournament was held at Compass Pointe Golf Course again this year. Thanks to everyone who participated. The proceeds from this tournament go into the community assistance fund, which helps us organize the fifth-grade straight-A lunch; school supply drive; scholarships; Veteran’s Day ceremony; tree lighting; A Child’ Christmas; Caring and Sharing Parade; donations to the Friends of Downs Park, the Friends of Hancock’s Resolution and National Night Out; and upkeep of the flag site at Route 100 and Mountain Road. We hope to have more participation from the community next year, but the turnout was good despite the slight rainfall in the morning.

The Harvest for the Hungry Caring and Sharing Parade will be November 5 at Tick Neck Park at 2:00pm. We are proud to have Henry Schmidt and Hancock’s Resolution as our grand marshals this year. There is a change in the parade route: Start at Tick Neck Road, make a right onto Edwin Raynor Boulevard heading south (at the intersection of Fort Smallwood Road), make a right onto Tick Neck Road (approximately 1,000 feet), make a right onto Mountain Road (Route 177), continue on Mountain Road and turn right at Outing Avenue, and follow that to the George Fox Middle School parking lot, where the parade ends. You do not have to stop at George Fox. You can continue back to Northeast High School by using Duvall Highway. We collect food and donations along the parade route to stock our local Pasadena food pantries, so look for the Lauer’s Supermarket & Bakery truck. Come watch the parade or request a packet to participate in the parade. The parade participation forms are on www.pbaparade.com, or you can email the PBA office at pasadenabusinessassociation1@verizon.net.

Pasadena Business Association’s seventh annual Veterans Day ceremony is November 11 at 1:00pm. Show your support for the men and women who did and do protect this country! This is our opportunity to honor them and thank them for our freedoms. We will replace the current flag and dedicate our two newest additions to the flag site, the 105-milimeter Howitzer cannons. We are proud of these artifacts on loan from the army.

The memorial flag is located at the intersection of Mountain Road and Route 100. Parking is provided at Lake Shore Athletic Complex on Woods Road. After you enter the complex, proceed 0.6 miles to find the pathway to the flag. We will post signs to direct you. We will provide transportation for those unable to walk the path to the flag.

Join the rest of the community on Tuesday, December 5, in Lakeshore Plaza (in front of Arundel Federal Savings Bank) for the lighting ceremony of Pasadena’s “official” Christmas tree at 6:30pm. The event, which starts at 6:00pm, will feature a special visit from Santa and his magic sleigh, fire apparatus, Christmas carolers, face painting, games and more. In addition, the tree lighting ceremony will support the PBA’s A Child’s Christmas gift drive, and we will accept cash or unwrapped gift donations to put under the tree. These gifts go to local Pasadena children in need. Please bring an unwrapped gift or make a donation so every child in Pasadena will have a great Christmas.
