PBA Update

The PBA has been busy with the many projects this time of year brings. Our third annual Taste of Pasadena was a huge success. Our vendors were outstanding and everyone raved about the food. The tented pavilion and walkway at Kurtz’s Beach added a very relaxing atmosphere with the soft lights. Thanks to all of the vendors, Kurtz’s Beach, the PBA members who volunteered, and Lisa Hart from Arundel Federal Savings Bank for making this a special evening.

With the end of the school year approaching, we are busy with our annual Scholarship Program. We will be awarding scholarships to local students; the PBA awards seven $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors, three $100 savings bonds to 8th graders, and three $100 savings bonds to 5th graders. We feel it’s important to express to all students the importance of good grades and responsibilities. All of the recipients will be awarded their scholarships at our General Membership Meeting on June 1.

We will be taking 98 area 5th graders to Cheeseburger in Paradise for lunch as a part of the Straight A Lunch Program that our Education Committee sponsors. These 5th graders must maintain straight As for two marking periods. This is a very important program, and the students look forward to going on a coach bus to Cheeseburger in Paradise for lunch and all of the items they receive such as a t–shirt, goodie bag, citations, and the special recognition for their academic achievement. Thanks to all of the businesses and people who donate their efforts to make this a special day for the children.

We are very proud of our Shop Local/Shop PBA program we have been promoting for the last year and will continue this year. Please shop local when possible and support your community businesses, which in turn support the community.
