The Pasadena Business Association has awarded $150,000 in scholarship money over the years and will again this year offer scholarships to local high school seniors and also fifth- and eighth-graders.

Our annual Scholarship Fundraiser in March helps fund these scholarships. Please come out and assist us in helping the future of our community. The more we make on this event the more we will be able to give. This is a fun event featuring dancing, games of chance and a silent auction that will include Ravens gear. It will be held on Friday, March 8, 2013 from 7:00 – 11:00pm at Kurtz’s Beach.

The menu consists of carved ham and chicken, sweet Italian sausage with peppers and onions, Maryland Blue Crab bake, four-cheese baked ziti, harvest salad with pears and toasted pecans, antipasto salad, Mediterranean salad, a mashed potato bar and assorted desserts. Beer, wine, soda and tea are also included.

What a great deal for only $35 per person (if purchased by March 1.) Tickets are on sale at BB&T Bank at 3030 Mountain Road and The Bank of Glen Burnie at 8707 Ft. Smallwood Road, but you must pay by check or cash. You can pay by credit card at www.pasadenabusinessassociation.com and your tickets will be held at the door. If you need more information please call Chairman Jerry Nicklow of Huff Insurance at 410-647-1111 or the PBA office at 410-360-4PBA (4722).

Tickets purchased at the door or any time after March 1 will be $45.

If you are interested or know someone who is interested in applying for the scholarships, the applications are now on the website www.pasadenabusinessassociation.com. High school seniors need to attend either Northeast or Chesapeake high schools, or live in the attendance area for these schools but attend another public or private school.

Fifth- and eighth-grade applicants need to attend elementary or middle school in either Northeast or Chesapeake high school feeder system, or live in the attendance area for these schools but attend another public or private school. The applications must be completed and returned to the school guidance department by March 21, delivered to Linda Loane at The Bank of Glen Burnie, 8707 Ft. Smallwood Road, or postmarked and mailed to the PBA Office at P.O. Box 861, Pasadena, MD 21123 by March 22.

The guidance counselors have until the end of business on March 22 to deliver the applications to Linda Loane at The Bank of Glen Burnie. Applications received after these dates will not be processed. The selected recipients will be notified by letter and honored at a PBA General Membership Luncheon in June at the Maryland Yacht Club.

Remember to shop local and help your local businesses who support our community. The discounts offered by participating members are on the website for your convenience.
