Petty Officer First Class Steven Tabisz, from Severna Park, serves as the senior enlisted leader assigned to Naval Medical Readiness Logistics Command (NMRLC) Detachment Fort Detrick, Maryland.
Tabisz is a 2004 graduate of Severna Park High School. Additionally, Tabisz earned a bachelor’s degree in computer networking and security from the University of Maryland Global Campus.
The skills and values needed to succeed in the Navy are similar to those found in Severna Park.
“My dad always says, ‘If you’re going to do something, don’t half do it,’” Tabisz said. “My mom taught us the golden rule, to always respect and treat everyone the way you’d like to be treated.”
Tabisz joined the Navy 19 years ago.
“I joined the Navy because I was bored with college and wanted something new,” Tabisz said. “September 11 fueled a want to serve my country.”
Today, Tabisz serves as a hospital corpsman.
Headed by Captain Christopher Barnes, NMRLC develops, acquires, produces, fields, sustains and provides enduring lifecycle support of medical materiel solutions to the Fleet, Fleet Marine Force, and Joint Forces in high-end competition, crisis and combat. At the forefront of Navy Medicine’s strategic evolution, NMRLC is well positioned to be the Joint Force’s premier integrated medical logistics support activity.
With 90% of global commerce traveling by sea and access to the internet relying on the security of undersea fiber optic cables, Navy officials continue to emphasize that the prosperity of the United States is directly linked to recruiting and retaining talented people from across the rich fabric of America.
Tabisz serves a Navy that operates far forward, around the world and around the clock, promoting the nation’s prosperity and security.
He has many opportunities to achieve accomplishments during military service.
“I’m most proud of being the command career counselor at Field Medical Training Battalion-East and Second Marine Division,” Tabisz said. “I’m able to help the sailors figure out their future in the Navy and provide guidance.”
Tabisz can take pride in serving America through military service.
“I’ve been in the Navy over half of my life now and it’s been a great adventure,” Tabisz said. “It’s given me a different viewpoint on life and the world, a career to be proud of, and skills to utilize when I grow up and retire.”
Tabisz is grateful to others for helping make a Navy career possible.
“I want to thank my mom and dad, my sister, Jen, and my brother, Matt, for their support from the moment I joined in 2005,” Tabisz added. “I also want to thank my wife, Katie, my daughter, Skylar, and my son, Charles. I love you. Thank you for supporting me throughout our career; we’re almost finished. To my Aunt Kathy and Uncle Chris: Go Navy, Beat Army!”
