Internationally acclaimed guest performers, members of Maryland Festival Ballet, and students of the Edna Lee Dance Studio and surrounding studios will take the stage at Chesapeake High School for the 15th annual performance of “The Nutcracker” from December 13-15.
Under the artistic direction of choreographer Ashley Canterna Hardy and executive director Mary Moran, this performance showcases a cast of more than 100 young dancers chosen through audition. Guest artists will include International Ballet medalist and Boston Ballet principal dancer Derek Dunn (courtesy of Boston Ballet), International Ballet medalist Ashley Canterna Hardy, Marquis Floyd, and Tyler Stewart (courtesy of SweetBird Productions).
Take the family and enjoy the familiar music of Tchaikovsky while the magical story of “The Nutcracker” comes to life. This is a holiday tradition that appeals to children and adults alike - with beauty, adventure, magic, awe-inspiring dancing and a real snowstorm onstage.
Guests can shop for Christmas souvenirs at the Sugar Plum Boutique or satisfy their sweet tooth with something from the Nutcracker Sweets concessions table. After the show, stay to meet the dancers, snap a picture or take home an autograph.
